The National Jamboree is one-of-a-kind Scouting experience. It’s a gathering of tens of thousands of Scouts, leaders, and Jamboree Service Team members that showcases everything that is great about Scouting. Those who attend will explore all kinds of adventures—stadium shows, pioneer village, Mount Jack hikes, adventure sports and more—in the heart of one of nature’s greatest playgrounds. With 10,000 acres at the Summit to explore, there’s no shortage of opportunities to build Scouting memories.

Who can go?

Youth Participant Qualifications

  • MUST have a current Scouting America membership.
  • MUST be at least 12 years of age by the first day of the Jamboree but has not reached their 18th birthday by the last day of the Jamboree.
  • Be approved by the local council.
  • MUST have appropriate parent/guardian to complete the online parental consent. (An email will be sent to the parent/guardian of any applicant currently 17 years of age or younger during the application process.)
  • Participate in pre-Jamboree training experience with local council and unit leader.
  • Submitted Scouting America Annual Health & Medical Record using the on-line Jamboree submission process. The AHMR must be dated on or after July 1, 2025.
  • Submit all registration fees per the local council’s payment schedule.

Young Adult Program Participant Qualifications

  • MUST have a current Scouting America membership.
  • MUST be at least 18 years of age by the first day of the Jamboree but has not reached their 21st birthday by the last day of the Jamboree.
  • MUST be housed as an adult due to chronological age, while allowed to participate in program consistent with a youth participant.
  • Be approved by the local council.
  • Participate in pre-Jamboree a number of training experiences with local council and unit leader.
  • Submitted Scouting America Annual Health & Medical Record using the on-line Jamboree submission process. The AHMR must be dated on or after July 1, 2025.
  • Submit all registration fees per the local council’s payment schedule.

Adult Leader Participant Qualifications

  • All Jamboree Scoutmasters, First, Second, Third Assistant Scoutmasters, and Unit Care Providers MUST meet the following requirements:
  • MUST have a current BSA membership in a local council unit.
  • All leaders regardless of assigned position MUST be at least 21 years of age by the first day of the Jamboree.
  • Be approved by the local council.
  • Scoutmaster, First, Second or Third Assistant Scoutmasters MUST currently be serving in any unit leadership position.
  • Scoutmaster applicants MUST have completed appropriate leader specific training.
  • All adult leaders MUST be current with Youth Protection Training.
  • All adults must register online through the Jamboree registration system as a “Leader”. The council will designate specific leadership or chaperone positions at the time the Jamboree units are assigned.
  • Participate and assist in planning the pre-Jamboree training experience with local council.
  • The Unit Care Provider must be one of the Unit Leaders (SM or ASM) and is required to hold either current Wilderness First Aid and CPR certificates or a current healthcare license (MD, DO, APRN, RN, PA, Paramedic, EMT). This unit leader’s responsibilities include providing for the safety and well-being of each unit member by a) reviewing their AHMR and maintaining a binder/file containing all of the Unit’s AHMRs, b) maintaining the Unit First Aid Kit and providing first aid treatment within the unit and c) overseeing administration of required medications.
  • Submitted Scouting America Annual Health & Medical Record using the on-line Jamboree submission process. The AHMR must be dated on or after July 1, 2025.
  • Submit all registration fees per the local council’s payment schedule.

JAMBOREE STAFF OPPORTUNITIES

Adults (18+ year old Scouts and 21+ year old Venturers) Participation in the Jamboree

If you are an adult wanting to join the Jamboree, there is a critical need for Jamboree staff.  Jamboree staff enable a successful event for all youth participants.  Jamboree staffing needs span all activities and skills.  Adults wanting to learn more about Jamboree staff positions and to register to be a member of the staff do so by accessing the National Jamboree website, https://jamboree.scouting.org/. Jamboree staff members pay their fees directly to National through the National Scout Jamboree website.

Fees

Cost

The fee for youth participants is estimated between $2,850 per youth*, subject to change as details are determined. This will cover the National Jamboree fee, travel expenses, meals, required troop and patrol equipment, accident and sickness insurance, troop numerals, patrol and troop office and position patch, event t-shirts, Greater New York Council contingent “swag” and the cost of mandatory pre-jamboree training. You may have additional costs for personal gear.

No fees are collected at the time of registration. All fees are paid to the council.

Financial assistance and camperships will be available.

You do not need to pay the entire fee at once. A payment schedule is available. A non-refundable deposit of $250 is due by December 1st 2025.

*Depending on contingent travel costs, per person fees may increase.

Family Participation

FAMILY PARTICIPATION IN THE NATIONAL JAMBOREE

Families can join the Jamboree adventure too.  Families can be day visitors to the Jamboree and enjoy the activities in the Summit Center.  The activities include many of the same activities available to Jamboree participants such as zip lines.  Families wanting to learn more about visiting the Jamboree can do so by accessing the National Jamboree website, https://jamboree.scouting.org. Family visitors pay their fees directly to National through the National Scout Jamboree website.

Registering

How to Register

Registration for the National Scout Jamboree will take place online when available. (Exact date TBD)
When you’re ready to register, make sure you have the basics covered:

  1. BSA membership must be current.
  2. BSA PID number (aka Member ID) must be linked in the profile of the registrant’s My.Scouting account.
  3. Your current email is in your My.Scouting account.
  4. Check your email after registering to complete your required disclaimers.

When registering a youth participant, you’ll need to sign in using the youth’s My.Scouting account. Note: When registering as a participant, no fees will be collected at the time of registration. Registration fees will be collected by the local council.

Scouts and Venturers from across the Greater New York Councils register for the Jamboree as individuals. Contingent troops and crews consist of 40 participants, 36 youth, and four adult leaders.

Cancelation & Refund Policy
The refund policy for scouts who wish to withdraw from the 2026 National Jamboree GNYC contingent is as follows:

  • Refunds will be processed upon review and approval of the 2026 Jamboree Committee and Staff Advisor.
  • Assuming that fees are made based on the payment schedule above, the first $1000 of your Jamboree fees are not refundable unless another scout can be recruited to take your place.  Typically, but not always, we have a wait list for this event which could be used to replace your scout.
  • Any scholarship awards will be forfeit should you withdraw.
  • Late fees and your initial $250 deposit are not refundable.
  • Requests for withdrawal of a Scout from a Jamboree Troop must be made in writing to your Scoutmaster stating the reason for withdrawal. Reasons for withdrawal of a Scout from a Jamboree Troop must be severely extenuating circumstances beyond the control of the Scout.
  • Any equipment, souvenirs or other items given to the scout must be returned in the original condition before a refund will be given.
  • Unannounced withdrawal from the Jamboree is not considered grounds for a refund.
Payment & Fee Information:
The estimated cost to attend the GNYC contingent to the National Jamboree is currently $2,850 per youth participant for those signed up prior to Nov. 1, 2025.  Your National Jamboree fee includes:

  • Jamboree event fee, as charged by the host, Bechtel Summit Scout Reserve.
  • Pre-Jamboree team building meetings, shakedown campouts, and various unit planning sessions.
  • Jamboree gear including a duffel bag, day pack and more.
  • Jamboree 2026 GNYC swag; uniform patches, trading patches…
  • Round trip charter bus transportation to and from the Summit Bechtel Scout Reserve in West Virginia.
  • 10 days at the National Jamboree site including meals and campsite accommodations.

Attendees should consider other out-of-pocket expenses such as additional uniforms, patches, and personal spending money, etc. 

Jamboree Payment Schedule:

All Jamboree fees must be paid in full by than May 30, 2023 for the participant to attend. Payments should be made in installments as follows:

  • Non-refundable deposit of $250 due with registration
  • Payment #1 – $371.49 due on 1/1/2026
  • Payment #2 – $371.49 due on 2/1/2026
  • Payment #3 – $371.49 due on 3/1/2026
  • Payment #3 – $371.49 due on 4/1/2026
  • Payment #4 – $371.49 due on 5/1/2026
  • Payment #5 – $371.49 due on 6/1/2026
  • Final Payment – $371.49 due on 7/1/2026

Jamboree Late Payment Surcharge:

Missed payments will incur an additional fee of $25 per missed payment based on the published schedule above.

 

 

Pre-Jamboree Shakedown Campout at Ten Mile River Scout Camps - Sunday, July 19th to Tuesday, July 21st
In preparation for the 2026 National Scout Jamboree, all participating Scouts and unit leaders will gather at Ten Mile River Scout Camps for a Pre-Jamboree Shakedown Campout from Sunday, July 19th through Tuesday, July 21st, 2026.

This mandatory shakedown will serve as a critical preparation period for all Jamboree-bound units. During the campout, Scouts and leaders will have the opportunity to:

  • Practice setting up and breaking down Jamboree-style troop sites
  • Test and refine patrol cooking systems and gear
  • Review Jamboree protocols, schedules, and safety procedures
  • Strengthen teamwork and communication within their Jamboree units
  • Participate in team-building activities and orientation briefings

The shakedown also ensures that all equipment, supplies, and personal gear meet the standards for the Jamboree experience. It’s a great opportunity for participants to build camaraderie and prepare mentally and physically for the adventure ahead.

On the morning of Tuesday, July 21st, bus transportation will depart directly from Ten Mile River Scout Camps, carrying all Jamboree participants to the 2026 National Scout Jamboree site. Participation in the shakedown campout is essential for a smooth and successful Jamboree experience. Scouts should arrive ready for an exciting and focused time of preparation and bonding!
