Ethan Ngai, a Boy Scout in Troop 349 of Forest Hills, held a STEM Robotics Workshop for 2nd to 5th graders in Public School 144. The Workshop was a unique community service project Ethan developed and managed for his advancement to Eagle Scout.
At the workshop, over twenty second & third graders learned to construct and code models using Lego pieces and software WeDo®. An additional 20 fourth and fifth grade students learned to code, using the EV3 Lego software, to navigate robots intelligently using motors and sensors. Participants also saw a 3D printer demonstration and drove a remote-controlled competition robot. For some students, this was their first experience with robotics. Overall, the Workshop went smoothly and received positive feedback from both students and parents.
